SUBJECTIVE WELL-BEING:
CURRENT ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE
- Detalhes
Subjective well-being has been calling the attention of researchers, as a core element of the quality of life and an important aspect of a positive psychology. This paper aims at presenting the current state of advances of psychological research in this field. We try, first of all, to define the concept subjective well-being and its multidimensional structure. Then, reference is made to personality factors having the best predictive power of subjective well-being. Finally, some sociodemographic factors are pointed out, that have been more often studied and have showed stronger relationships with subjective well-being. It is concluded that their predictive power is, nevertheless, rather weak.
