SCALE FOR THE EVALUATION OF THE STUDY METHODS (SEM): ITS IMPLEMENTATION BY TEACHERS
- Detalhes
The study of the final versions of Scale for the Evaluation of Methods of Study – SEM (Escala de Avaliação dos Métodos de Estudo – AME) was undertaken during the 1998/99 academic year, using a sample of 620 students, distributed among urban and rural schools of the districts of Oporto and Braga. The scale SEM includes three fundamental dimensions, each with three sub-scales and one independent sub-scale designated "behaviour during examinations" which may, in its own right, constitute a fourth dimension related to "Attitudes and behaviour during Evaluation". The dimension "Personal Perceptions and Study Involvement" is composed by the sub-scale "casual attributions", "self-efficacy expectations" and "motivation". The dimensions "Study Cognitive Competencies" includes the sub-scales "acquisition of information", "memorisation" and "comprehension". The study dimension "Attitudes and Behaviour" includes the sub-scales "time of study", "study material" and "place of study". Some items that the sub-scales include, the results, the methods of classification and its practice by teachers, are presented and discussed in this paper.
