This paper is the result of a collection of lectures on the democratisation of education, which I have taught, for two decades, at the Faculty of Psycology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra. Students have always shown to be pleased and interested by this subject, and that led to the present publication. I state that democracy is the product of Industrial Revolution(s), which, in turn, is the product of energy, i.e., of the several forms of energy: steam, oil, electricity, atomic energy, cybernetics. Energy, as found by scientific and technical research, was used to substitute the muscular strength of men and even their intelligence or intellectual. This provoked a huge increase in productivity, creating the necessary conditions for democracy.
